Yamaha's new F250 incorporates Command Link(R) Digital Electronic control. (Photo: Business Wire) Yamaha F250 Gets Digital Electronic Control Yamaha announced today the arrival of a new 250-horsepower four-stroke outboard, internally called the F250B, which offers digital electronic control and other upgrades designed to further enhance efficiency, functionality and value.

“The changes we’ve made in the F250 will increase the already broad appeal of the outboard,” said Phil Dyskow, Yamaha Marine Group President. “At the same time, we have strengthened those characteristics that contribute to Yamaha’s legendary reliability.”

“When we introduced Command Link® digital electronic control on the F350 last year, the response was so positive that we had to bring the technology to the F250. Command Link alone will increase ease of operation and provide new features for boaters and anglers.”

The F250 will use the very same Command Link control system introduced for the F350 and F300 last year. The system has a number of exclusive features not found on mechanical controls. It has no cables and therefore provides smoother operation. In place of the mechanical cable is an electrical wire attached to connectors, which allow simple plug-and-play operation with the outboard(s) and peripheral devices. Major benefits of the system include precise trolling control in 50 rpm increments, automatic engine synchronization and easy dual-station fitment. The control unit itself comes in a variety of binnacle configurations for single or multiple engine applications. New this year is the Command Link 6X7 concealed side-mount control for single outboard applications.
